What is GPON ONU(ONT) and GPON OLT?
The EPON OLT is a device serving as the endpoint for the service provider in a passive optical network. In other words, the Optical Line Terminal (OLT) manages the Ethernet Passive Optical Network (EPON). This technology offers multiple services thanks to its point-to-multipoint passive optical transmission.
1. What is GPON ONU(ONT)?
The GPON ONU (optical network unit) or ONT (optical network terminal) is usually located at customer premises. It is also described as a CPE unit. There is a small difference between the UN and the NTO, but we generally think of them as one and the same. Additionally, there are different configurations for ONU/ONT devices. Some have Gigabit Ethernet or Fast Ethernet ports, others can support analog phones or wireless Internet.

2. What is GPON OLT?

The other is the downstream direction, which acquires data, audio and video traffic from the MAN and the toll network.
